om and the significance
over the last 2 years i have been working on the word Om, by work i mean chanting it, i have had a few teachers who have been explaining to me the right way of chanting. this is a very powerful word. i have seen the effect it has had on me.
it is amazing to see and feel the energy when about 80-100 people start chanting om at the same time, the vibrations of the sound resonates through your body, your mind seems to get into an altered state.
i have been reading on and off ,blog of a lady i have never met in real life, but have been in communication with her at blogshares, sage starwalker, i came across the term goddessing on her blog , dont know why,but from my first interaction with her on the game i have sensed something different about her. there is a different kind of energy in her.
today while i was going through here blog, i clicked on a sidebar link which was simply mentioned as Om. i was startled at what i came across. though i have seen and looked at stone age venus, i had never even in my wild thought connected the symbol of Om with Venus.
kind of makes lot of sense.
there has been this thought being pushed into me as i grew up that men are stronger then women, i have always viewed this thought with a lot of skepticism, i have seen my mother and the way she used to handle things, i have seem the person i have married and way she handle things, and now i see my daughter and the way she handles things(she is just 4 years old!) i do not and have not , for a movement, think that women are weaker than men. i have imagined future societies where only women are in existence.
the word "Om" where did it begin? which country? who owns om?
there is lot of information on "om" were some people do not associate om with india and some do. does not matter.
in ancient india there was lot of respect accorded to women , an off hand memory, leads me to believe there are more goddess than gods in the indian history/mythology.(not that i am expert nor have i done extensive research on this subject, all these are just my thoughts)
and most of the goddess were powerful, and creators , creators of music, knowledge, wealth. while the gods were involved in more "earthly" matters of destruction, fire, wind.
i wonder if the origin of the word HUM is deep rooted in OM?
(this is a work in progress document, will undergo periodic revision as and when thought come in, but will be published as is , at the time of posting)
